Heading for a new start in a foreign country is a big challenge. There are so many things that are done differently from how they are done in your home country. This is true for health insurance and healthcare too. We are delighted that you have decided in favour of health insurance with BKK VBU. Your decision is the first important step. After all, it is quick and not at all complicated to become a member of BKK VBU. In the following you will find information on the next steps.

Step 1: Fill in your membership application form

You fill out the application for your membership in the BKK VBU. Online Membership Application.

It will be a pleasure to assist you on the phone. Call our 24-hour hotline free of charge. You can also alternatively send us your application form by postage, email or fax. You will find all application forms as PDF under Downloads.

Step 2: Confirm the cancellation of membership with your previous health insurance and send us your new membership application form

Cancel your membership with your previous health insurance and send us the confirmation of cancellation which you have received from your previous health insurance together with your declaration of membership for our health insurance – either by postage, email or fax. Your previous health insurance is obliged to send you a confirmation within two weeks after cancelling your insurance. The period of notice is two months to the end of the month.

We will verify your application and contact you if we require any further information. You will then receive your health insurance certificate confirming your valid health insurance with BKK VBU.

Step 3: Send us your passport photo for your healthcare card

For your healthcare card we require your passport photo. You can either send us your photo by postage or have it taken at one of our BKK VBU Service Centers or alternatively upload it directly onto our website. Click here to upload your passport photo.

Step 4: Get your healthcare card

We will send you your healthcare card and the healthcare cards for your family members, if you have applied for family health insurance. We will also inform your employer that your health insurance has changed.
